This morning, my sisters, my niece, my boyfriend and I went to St. Lawrence Market. Despite having lived in Toronto on and off for almost seven years, I had never been until I took my sick leave. It was only then that I was able to make time on a weekday, and didn't have to worry about contracting some awful cold from the throngs of people there on the weekends.
Visiting St. Lawrence Market is a one of the best ways you could pass the afternoon in Toronto. But let's face it, going there on the weekends leaves you less than impressed. You usually end up fighting the crowd, waiting in lines, or stuck behind people walking too slow, or in front of people who are walking too fast.
This resolution is the first of many that requires a weekday commitment. On a random Thursday, or even a Friday, I highly recommend taking a vacation day or just forfeiting that day's pay, and taking the time to take in the sights and delicious delights at St. Lawrence Market - or any market near you! You'll be surprised at the inspiration you take away for your at-home culinary creations, or if you're like me and don't do much of that cooking stuff, you'll have your pick of spanakopita, peameal bacon on a bun, gourmet cheeses, or fresh fruits from around the world. There's no way you could leave unsatisfied.
Sure, you could go on a weekend. But I suspect you may leave wondering about all the things you didn't get a chance to see. Go on a weekday, get a coffee, and take your time. That's what we did today. And let me assure you, work was the farthest thing from my mind while I was there!
Isn't that a reason to go in itself?
